Marriott Residence Inn - Seattle

Architect: Weber Thompson & Johnson Braund
General Contractor: Mortenson Construction
Completion: 2017

Project Description:

The 17-story Marriott Residence Inn at the corner of Howell Street and Terry Avenue is adding to the bustling area on the edge of Downtown Seattle's Denny Triangle area. The project features 309 rooms throughout 17 floors, with ground floor retail, a restaurant, and conference spaces. Mission Glass has been brought on board to fabricate and install all of the glazing systems on this project provided by Oldcastle Building Envelope. These include punched window openings at the hotel rooms, and a unitized curtain wall that runs the full height of the building above the main entrance. This curtain wall carries all the way up past the roof line and serves as a mechanical screen to hide the large equipment rooms on the top of the structure. The unitized system will house a number of different glass types, patterns, and colors to provide unique design elements horizontally throughout each floor. Back-lit panels will also be periodically installed to create long vertical strips of lighting that will meander across the facade to highlight the height of the building, drawing attention to the structure and surrounding area.

The Marriott Residence Inn is the 3rd project Mission Glass has worked on with Mortenson within a 1-block radius of this bustling area of downtown. Completed in 2016 was the Hill 7 Office & Hilton Garden Hotel. Going up just North of the Marriott is also the Tilt 49 Office building and 41-story AMLI Residential tower. As this area of Seattle continues to develop and expand, Mission Glass is thrilled to be able to have such a large footprint in the glass facades that will be on display throughout these evolving structures.
