College Instruction Center - Bremerton, WA

Architect: Schacht Aslani Architects
General Contractor: Korsmo Construction
Completion: 2017

Project Description:

Olympic College's College Instruction Center will provide new classrooms and media spaces for theater, Fine Art, Music and Health Occupations. The Instruction Center will be located at the main entry to the campus, and join the new Library, Science & Tech and Humaniities buildings to create a central core. The building utilizes state-of-the-art energy saving features including high-performance glazing and curtain wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and a 100kw solar array. These systems help to contribute to the building's ambitious sustainable design agenda and will ensure that there will be a minimal environmental footprint created by the new facility.

Mission Glass will be working with several glazing systems on Kawneer's Ultra Thermal platform, as well as, fire rated aluminum systems provided by Technical Glass Products. The advanced features of this project will require close coordination among Mission Glass and the mechanical and electrical contractors, as many of the operable windows will have power-assisted operators to open and close the venting windows to help balance building loads. Mission will also coordinate installation of overhead sloped glazing by DeaMor and custom sunshades provided by Construction Specialties.
