The construction of the new Benjamin Rush Elementary allowed Mission Glass to, once again, team up with Mortenson Construction to deliver a unique project with a tight deadline built around the school year. Due to the scope of the project and the need to avoid displacing students during the year, the project was broken up into multiple phases. This allowed a portion of the building to always remain functional throughout the construction process. Unique features incorporated into the design were the custom circular windows and storefront configurations achieved through the use of EFCO storefront and window systems. The glazing installed on this project was Guardian’s high performing SNX 62/27 glass over a Crystal Grey tint which allowed for sweeping views from the interior, providing privacy from the exterior. The interior of the building also included folding and sliding wood clad door systems by Nanawall which were custom-tailored and shipped from their manufacturing plant in Germany.
