The Graystone Apartments is a distinctive architectural high-rise located in the First Hill neighborhood of Seattle. From atop the 32nd floor, which serves as the outdoor amenity space for residents, there are 360-degree views of the surrounding urban metropolis overlooking Elliot Bay and the heart of Seattle. The entire aesthetic pays homage to the former Graystone Manor, which opened in 1907 and was one of First Hill's most sophisticated residential hotels and social clubs.
The project successfully navigated several construction constraints, including the COVID-19 pandemic and concrete strike, which both left construction activities in Seattle at a standstill as those hurdles were overcome. Nonetheless, Mission Glass was able to deliver over 4,000 unitized curtainwall panels that define the exterior envelope of the building. These "units" contained a myriad of products including operable windows, louvers, aluminum composite accent panels, insulation and door openings, all fabricated and installed by Mission Glass.
While Graystone took longer than expected to get across the finish line, the end result speaks for itself. The high-rise will be a prominent feature in the Seattle skyline and offer a high-end home to hundreds of residents. The project was a welcomed challenge for Mission Glass but also serves as a testament to scale and complexity of work we have built ourselves around.
