The Olympic College Instruction Center (CIC) project provides a 276-seat theater and learning spaces and studios for Fine Art, Music, Theater and Health Instruction. The building is situated right along the main entry to the campus and joins the growing list of new structures the college has added in recent years. The structure is comprised of a central theater that is surrounded on all sides by classrooms and open lobby areas that have large expanses of glass, which flood the community spaces with an abundance of natural light. Mission Glass provided full fabrication and installation of the “punched” curtain wall openings, with multiple horizontal exterior sunshades to cut down solar heat gain and glare along the South and East Elevations. One of the prominent features is a multi-story free span curtain wall along the building’s West Elevation. This large expanse of glazed wall incorporated four 9’ x 16’ sliding doors from Solar Innovations, as well as frameless automatic opening window “vents” by Kawneer. This building is a great addition to the campus and Mission Glass was proud to have been a part of the journey from early construction through closeout.
