Mission Glass was tasked with providing storefront and curtain wall systems throughout the building, which incorporated operable windows as well as horizontal and vertical sunshades to help cut down on solar heat gain and glare that occurs during the warm Northwest summers. The sunshades, along with high performing Low-Emissivity (Low-E) coatings on the glazing helped to drastically improve the thermal efficiency of the building façade, while also providing a clean design element, accentuating the exterior elevations. Surprise Lake Middle School was a great addition to Mission Glass' repertoire of growing educational projects and one that will stand for generations of new students that will navigate its halls.
