The West Seattle YMCA underwent an $8 million remodel and expansion to allow for new community rooms, kitchen space for cooking classes and demonstrations, as well as energy-efficient upgrades. A large portion of the expansion consisted of heavy timber construction and large expanses of windows that allowed the fitness areas to open up to the street and bring in a flood of natural daylight. The project included nearly $4 million that was raised by the West Seattle community, with the remaining funds provided by YMCA of Greater Seattle. The project was delivered in phases, with much of the existing facility remaining open to patrons throughout construction. Mission Glass was honored to be a part of this expansion that helped to create a new gathering space for the community and increased capacity.
