The Interdisciplinary Science Building (ISB) was a critical addition to Western Washington University's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields, which continue to grow throughout the globe. The building will also help to expand pre-healthcare degrees to address the growing shortage of health care workers throughout Washington, as well as the rest of the country.

The project itself is located just south of the existing Biology building, which is accessible via a sky-bridge wrapped on both sides by a unitized curtain wall system. The upper levels are offset from the lower level to mimic the shifting landscape and tiered levels of the campus, creating unique views from each floor to the surrounding environment. An abundance of ultra clear low-iron glass throughout the entire façade allows for maximum daylighting to interior spaces, balanced by custom perforated horizontal sunshades on the building's south-facing elevation to cut down on summer heat build-up, without compromising exterior views.

Mission Glass played a key role in the project delivery and maintaining the tight project schedule by providing unitized curtain walls that allowed the panels to be fully fabricated and glazed at our fabrication facility in Tumwater, WA. This allowed the units to be delivered to site and simply bolted on to the building, rather than the typical approach of assembling them on site. This was another successful delivery with General Contractor, BNBuilders who continues to be a valued partner with Mission Glass.
